Maciej Nerkowski

Maciej Nerkowski (1983) — baritone

He graduated with first class honours from the Vocal Faculty of the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw. He cooperated with many outstanding vocalists including Jadwiga Rappé, Adam Kruszewski, Leonard Andrzej Mróz and Ryszard Karczykowski, with well-known chamber musicians – Maja Nosowska, Krystyna Borucińska, Maciej Paderewski, Jerzy Marchwiński and producers – Jitka Stokalska, Michał Znaniecki, Michał Zadara and Agata Duda-Gracz. He sung solo parts and participated in recording of CDs (Zygmunt Stojowski-Prayer for Poland Op.40; Moryto Masses-a CD recording of the cantor’s part in Missa solemnis.Hommage à Josquin Desprez by Stanisław Moryto; recording of RES TUA by Miłosz Bembinow).Since 2000 he has performed solo parts in Poland and abroad. His repertoire includes the solo parts at works of: Joseph Haydn, Stanisław Moniuszko, Johann Strauss, Gaetano Donizetti, Giaccomo Puccini, Carl Orff, Leonard Berstein, Iannis Xenakis and many others.He was twice the winner of the first prize at the Pieśń wieczorna Moniuszko competition in Białystok, a laureate of the Youth Musical Forum of the Österreichische Kulturforum Warschau Winner, Societe Generale bank scholarship-holder, and together with percussionist Leszek Lorent, of the 2nd prize at the 14th International Contemporary Chamber Music Competition in Kraków.Former member of the medieval music group Pressus, and the Balkan music group Sarakina, with whom he has recerded CD albums: Junctions and Fryderykata.He currently cooperates with the L.T.L. Opera Studio (Laboratorio Toscano per la Lirica), Słowacki Theatre in Kraków, the Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic as well as the Great Theatre in Poznań, Great Theatre and Polish National Opera in Warsaw.
