Meaning Detected, because we discover meaning and value in good collaborations. For #10 years we tirelessly seek new ways of creating music together.
We want it to be something more than just a set of interesting sounds for our audiences. We want it to tell stories and relate to the world that crashes down on them every day, demanding reaction, reflection, interpretation. We also want it to be, for creators: composers, performers and collaborators, a process of making new music together that builds good bonds. The kind that, years later, allow you to find each other on a different continent and return to conversations about art as if we saw each other yesterday.
Hashtag Ensemble is a collection of individuals, musicians working in different fields – composers, academic teachers, solo musicians, chamber musicians, excellent orchestra musicians, session musicians and those associated with folk or alternative music. From the beginning of the ensemble’s existence, we knew that this was our wealth, not a limitation. During the #10 Meaning Detected concert, we will play works dedicated to soloists, thanks to whom it will be possible to hear the diversity of our specializations and commitments.
One of the important and good collaborations for us is the one that started during the pandemic and has been continued enthusiastically in subsequent years with composer Rafał Zapała. We have had concerts in the United States, a monographic concert at Hashtag Lab, and recorded an album with Rafał’s works for the KAIROS label. The premiere of “Futility” is a great opportunity to meet again and tell about collaboration in new music, which is a field for ordinary and extraordinary meetings of enthusiasts and professionals, beginning artists and creators recognized in the international contemporary music community.
The concert is accompanied by a conversation with Rafał Zapała about our latest album, but the colorful individualities of Hashtag Ensemble will be present not only in conversation and music, but also in the image. After the concert, there will be a vernissage of portraits of “Hashtagowcy” captured through the lens of the excellent photographer Magda Hueckel.
In this place we want to thank everyone who worked with us in the ensemble over the last 10 years and went their own way, we are glad we could meet you: Ignacy Zalewski, Leszek Lorent, Dariusz Przybylski, Jagoda Sudujko, Aleksander Dębicz, Hubert Zemler, Wojtek Psiuk, Piotr Sałajczyk.
