Can music be painful? Can one listen without judging or judge without listening?
During a concert, are we part of a compassionate community, or an element of a collection of individuals increasingly distant from each other the more we immerse ourselves in individual experience? Is this not a futile effort bringing a sense of futility? Will meditation under digital guidance help with all these doubts?
The project “Introverts’Collective” does not answer these and other questions, being among other things a monographic concert of compositions by Rafał Zapała performed by Hashtag Ensemble. It is also an innovative attempt to move away from the linearity of musical progression, to exploit the possibilities of ubiquitous technology to move beyond stereotypical interaction and enter into a situation of truly partnership dialogue, horizontal communication and openness to the unpredictable. It is a collective discovery and shaping of something truly unknown.
“Introverts’Collective” is the result of a Fulbright Fellowship (Fulbright Senior Award 2021), and the evening’s program consists of four works from 2018–2021: “Futility”, “Judge Me Again”, “Scrolling to Zero” and a composition created specifically with this project in mind, from which the whole took its title: “Introverts’ Collective”.
