Hashtag Ensemble to perform concerts with Rafał Zapała’s music in California
Hashtag Ensemble will perform two monographic concerts with music by Rafał Zapała (as part of the Fulbright scholarship) at California centers for electroacoustic music: November 17, 2021 at 8:00 PM at The Center for New Music and Audio Technologies at University of California (Berkeley) and November 19 at 7:30 PM at The Stanford University Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics.
The aim of this research and artistic project is the theory of a new form mediated by technological tools and open to participation (Real-time Interactive System for Non-linear Music Composition and Performance). The idea of participatory, open forms has been explored by the composer for a long time and most of his compositions realize it in various ways. The residency in Berkeley is a summary of this path. The project received the Fulbright Senior Award 2021.
The ensemble Hashtag Ensemble at California centers for electroacoustic music during the concert “Introverts’ Collective” will perform four works by Zapała:
Judge Me Again (2020, version for flute and l.elx),
Futility (2020),
Scrolling to Zero (2018, version for synthesizers),
and will premiere Introverts’ Collective (2021).
The concerts are made possible by funding from the Adam Mickiewicz Institute.
The concerts will take place with audience participation, will be broadcast and available on the YouTube channels of both institutes.
