From My Room is an eccentric, experimental form at the intersection of contemporary chamber opera, concert music, electronic music, performance, and sound installation.

It is also a specific vivisection of a human being – a composer, an individual who experiences their own crises and confronts their own problems, while being aware of how subjective and at times egocentric their perspective is. Optimism – is it something real? Pessimism – is it something destructive?

It is also a piece about the relationship between musicians, between creators and performers; it is a piece about the relationship between what is defined and what completely escapes control and determination.

The composition involves performing precisely notated parts alongside collective intuitive playing, based on various forms of conducted and conceptual improvisation, and opens a live interaction with the video track, which serves as a caustic and witty commentary as well as a subversive set of instructions.

From My Room is also a collision of operatic music aesthetics with the contemporary aesthetics of Glitch – error, with various timbres of electronics. In the piece, the composer also draws on his many years of vocal experience – he has worked with electronically permuted voice for years – and these experiences are also reflected in this unconventional form that is From My Room.
