AżTak Body
AżTak Festival 2024 is the third summer festival of Hashtag Ensemble combining contemporary music concerts with workshops and meetings in unexpected spaces of Warsaw.
This year’s AżTak Festival will take place under the theme BODY: we will care for our ears tired by noise, we will examine our bodies rushed in daily routines, we will release our everyday burdens lying under the sculptures-objects of Intibag, we will look inside our organisms, and we will also free ourselves from oppressive rituals sometimes hidden under the guise of “healthy lifestyle”.
As every year, Hashtag Ensemble will invite you to places where contemporary music has never sounded before: to the interior of a beautiful, pre-war villa in Żoliborz, to a pavilion hidden in greenery on Sadybia, or to a courtyard-well in Stara Ochota. Furthermore, at Hashtag Lab every evening concept-programs, exhibitions, performances and film screenings. AżTak Festival is a collective discovery of the city in summer, as well as experiencing contemporary music in the homely atmosphere of the modernist villa of Antoni Moniuszko.
The program supervision of the festival is overseen by Ania Karpowicz with the support of the Hashtag Ensemble Creative Group (Aleksandra Demowska-Madejska, Lilianna Krych, Marta Piórkowska, Wojciech Błażejczyk). Come with us!
Day 1
Embodiment, love, mindfulness.
On the first day of the festival we will examine the body as a place of mindfulness, love and closeness.
In the morning we will meet in the villa in Żoliborz with the Sirenes chamber choir to perform David Helbing’s “No-music” on our own ears and listen to “Be” to the poem by Halina Poświatowska conducted by Magdalena Gruziel with the participation of sign language interpreter — Michał Łach. Mindfulness of sound will connect curiosity with deep comfort, and we will give rest to our ears tired by daily noise pollution. We thank you for the cooperation, openness and hospitality of the Satwa Yoga center, where contemporary music will be hosted for the first time.

In the evening we will invite listeners to Hashtag Lab for three events in which the body is a home of closeness, intimacy and love. First, the exhibition “Embodiment” will be presented under the curatorial care of Alicja Sobiepańska — we will examine the body through the eyes of photography students, and in this experience we will be accompanied by an electroacoustic layer composed by Wojciech Chałupka. To the “tape” on the button accordion, Paweł Janas will play, discovering connections between what is visible and what is hidden. Next, we will repeat the original performance “Encore” by Liwia Bargieł to the music of Lucia Dlugoszewski, exploring the intimacy of two bodies in love, following the longings and tensions that accompany it. Finally, we will watch the opera “Heart Chamber” by Chaya Czernowin, which Jan Topolski will introduce verbally, and Kamila Wąsik-Janiak musically in a composition for solo violin.
