Hashtag Ensemble is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2024. This decade passed like John Cage’s 4’33” and found us shortly after moving, with first experiences of running our own venue – Hashtag Lab, the Contemporary Music Space in Warsaw.
We’re not bored and we’re not worried, like determined fourth graders (because 10 years is probably around fourth grade) we cheerfully run to music class – old enough to fully enjoy the diversity of contemporary musical languages, young enough to still have much to discover ahead. At Hashtag Ensemble rehearsals you will still hear unbridled bursts of laughter and loud conversations, and in the café you will get hot coffee along with a long list of our dreams and plans for the coming years.
In Hashtag Ensemble we tirelessly seek new ways of co-creating music. We want it to be more than just a set of interesting sounds for our audiences. We want it to tell stories and relate to the world that crashes down on them every day, demanding reaction, reflection, interpretation. We also want that for the creators – composers, performers, visual artists, dancers and directors – co-creating new music to be a process that builds good bonds. The kind that after years allow you to find each other on a different continent and return to conversations about art as if we had left the stage together yesterday.
For this special year of 2024, we have prepared birthday concerts #10 for you at Hashtag Lab:
February 29 – Still in the Middle anniversary, about the relativity of time – human and musical
April 4 – Meaning Detected individualism versus collectivity in the creative process
July 4–6 – AżTak Festival BODY time in the body and body in time
November 30 – final Manifest BeĄsą*, in which we will challenge ourselves for the next 10 years.
On the occasion of the #10 concerts, we will also invite you to meetings with composers, phonographic premieres, workshops and exhibitions. And beyond that ahead of us this year: 3 operas, 12 concept programs and over 50 musical events at Hashtag Lab.
You will always find details on our website www.hashtalab.pl, and tickets for the upcoming February concert will be on sale in a moment! Be with us
