This Northern Irish-Polish program for International Women’s Day, in collaboration with Hashtag Ensemble, presents some of the most original voices in contemporary music.
By tackling demanding, provocative, political, and sometimes even amusing themes, the ensembles Hard Rain and Hashtag Ensemble join forces to explore and perform fascinating works by composers with whom they independently maintain close collaboration. This British Council-funded project Against Adversity is part of the UK/Poland 2025 partnership. As part of this project, two avant-garde ensembles, founded in 2013, will join forces during concerts in Belfast and Warsaw.
We invite you at 18:00 for a free pre-concert, during which in McMordie Hall (QUB) we will hear the work Uisce Beatha – It’s six o’clock somewhere by Bianca Gannon. Then, at 19:30, in the same hall, the concert Pierrette will begin. It’s six o’clock somewhere draws inspiration from moments of stillness, whiskey, and religious experiences from western Ireland and beyond.
